Briana Echols remembered the first time she stepped inside the CanTeen 14 years ago.
She heard about the teen center, then located Cicero’s New Country Plaza, from her friends during study hall at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. Kids used to say it’s where all the loners would go after school, she said, but they were wrong.
When Echols stopped by, she met teens from all different walks of life – from goths to cheerleaders – and quickly made friends. The center’s staff welcomed her with smiling faces and open arms.
